About the Avalon Arms

The Avalon Center for Druidic Studies is an institution of higher learning dedicated to the study and practice of modern Druidry. We are developing courses in Celtic studies, ecological philosophy, sustainable living, and the arts. ACDS promoted freedom of thought and beliefs. As a community, we are inspired as much by modern science and academic discipline as by Iron Age culture, medieval romances, and ancient myths. All our work has been based on the ancient Bardic ideal in which language, story, and imagination are the roots of understanding and power.

Our school motto identifies a triad of values which we use to guide our search for wisdom: Love, Truth, and Nature.

AMOR • VERITAS • NATURA

Avalon plans to offer diplomas in four programs of study -- Scholar of Druidic Arts, Magister of Ovate Studies, Magister of Bardic Arts, and Ollamh of Druidic Studies.

In the future, we plan to establish a physical campus with a residential program where students and faculty might gather to learn from each other face-to-face. Presently the Center offers courses via distributed learning on the Internet. These online courses offer students the maximum flexibility in planning their druidic education. Students may enroll in courses at any time through our Moodle online learning environment. The staff of the center seeks continuous improvement in the ease and quality of the technology used and in the learning experience as a whole

Currently ACDS is creating a comprehensive fund-raising plan which will permit us to purchase or lease our own office, library, and classroom space. We are eager to receive any donations of land or in town property suitable for our operations. All donations to ACDS are tax-deductible under U.S. law. For further information about making donations see our Donations page or contact Mr. Meyer the Center's Head of Operations.

ACDS opened its web site at Samhuinn 2004 and offered its first roster of courses in Imbolc term 2005 (as Avalon College of Druidry). We were officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educatonal organization by the United States Internal Revenue Service in the Summer of 2007 and are registered in the State of Minnesota as such.

The governors and staff of the center wish to thank everyone who has donated their time, money, books, and good will to ACDS in the attempt to make it a viable institution. May your generosity return to you a thousand fold.

Blessings and Light in Druidry /|\
