DIV 101 Journey through Tarot (3 cr). Joy Vernon
This is a twelve-week cumulative course. The exercises learned in later classes build on the lessons from the earlier classes, so it is important that students be committed to the full course. I teach a unique style of reading that focuses on developing the student’s intuitive abilities with the cards and on learning to understand the metaphorical language of the cards through a close study of the unique symbols of the deck that is being studied. This course is excellent for beginning students as it teaches them to trust their instincts and to read from any deck. This course is also good for intermediate and advanced-intermediate students, as it helps the experienced reader to get better attuned with the specific symbolisms of each of their decks, finding patterns in the cards and the storyline of the spread.
DIV 102 Elements of Astrology (3 cr) Tsis'detsi Tsigoti
This course will introduce students to the fundamental principles of most types of astrology, providing a sound foundation for later study, whether it be western astrology, or earth astrology, or karmic, or Chinese, or other. Students will study the basic wheel, quadrants, elements, houses, and signs, and the planets, stones, herbs, colors and personalities that are attributed to them. They will explore with each other their basic birth sign, and learn how the energies of that position on the wheel influence their personality and their preferences. By the end of the course, students will know the wheel of the zodiac, as well as being versed in elemental and planetary influences, and will be able to use this information to go onto further study in erecting a birth chart and interpreting the aspects, or into earth astrology and further deepening their knowledge of the movements of the moon and the elemental guardians. Throughout the course, students will also do guided meditation work with various elemental beings to experience first hand the influence that the elements have on us, and why it is such a fundamental part of all astrology.
