Avalon Center is actively seeking instructors for its online courses. If you have experience and expertise in any of the following fields and believe you would make a good teacher, please read through this section of our web site and consider applying by e-mail. - History of magic - hermeticism, witchcraft, druidry, and other cultural traditions
- History of Ireland, Britain, Wales, Scotland, and the earlier Celtic regions of Europe
- Archaeology of ancient cultures
- Genealogical methods
- Research methods
- Expository Writing
- Creative writing, especially poetry in many forms
- The Bardic Arts - storytelling, mythmaking, music and mysticism, music therapy
- Celtic Languages - Irish, Welsh, Scots Gaelic or other Celtic languages including Old Irish
- Brehon Law
- Modern paganism as popular culture and religion
- Philosophy, with particular emphasis on pagan philosophers but also medieval and modern philosophy as it may be applied to modern druidry and magical philosophy generally.
- Philosophy of Science - especially as it informs modern druidry
- Comparative studies - Asian , African, South American, philosophy, religion, and magical practices
- Norse and Germanic mythology and magical traditions
- Anglo-Saxon magic, paganism, and early history
- Herbology and Herbalism - with special emphasis on magical as well as healing approaches, potions, tinctures, and infusions.
- Magical practice - Spellcasting and spell writing, charms, amulets, talismans, invocation and evocation, and ritual methods of higher enlightenment
- Alchemy in historical and contemporary perspectives, its relationship to science, psychology, and spiritual development.
- Faerie Lore - mythical and magical creatures, beings, beasts and how to deal with them.
- Energetic healing modalities in combination with Celtic spirituality.
- Deep Ecology - the connectedness of things from a scientific and mystical point of view
- Pagan spiritual leadership, counselling, and community building, including interfaith dialogue, and legal issues.
- The arts and craft of sustainable living: For example, self-sufficiency, green agriculture and architecture, animal husbandry and arboriculture.
Volunteer Opportunities in Administration and Development
In addition to seeking faculty members, we are currently seeking volunteers for several administrative positions. Although these are unpaid positions presently, it is our expectation that they will become paid positions as we proceed in our fundraising activities. All members of the staff will be automatically included as members of the Avalon Advisory Board with access to all the private staff discussion forums on our message board. Staff members also receive a 100% tuition waiver on all courses at ACDS for the duration of their employment with the Center. In addition immediate family members of staff may also receive a 50% tuition reduction on Avalon courses.
