ORGANIZATIONAL CHART

The following organizational chart illustrates the current plan for governance and staffing of the Center when it is fully staffed on the ground. Many of these positions are not presently filled as we develop the online dimension of our programs. The chart is subject to change as we develop and grow.

The primary governing body for policy and programming is the Board of Governors. This body functions as does any non-profit organization's board of directors. The Governors of the Center are empowered to hire and dismiss the Chancellor, who in turn is authorized as the Executive Director of the organizaton, responsible for managing all other paid and volunteer staff of the Center.

The Advisory Board is a non-governing body of persons interested in the Avalon Center's development. The Advisory Board serves in an advisory capacity to the Chancellor to consider matters of policy and development. The members of the faculty and staff are also included in the Advisory Board.

The Chancellor supervises the Dean, Merlin, Provost, and Seneschal. The Dean oversees academic affairs and the Faculty. The Merlin is Chief of Information Technology overseeing the Librarian and the Webmaster. The Provost oversees business affairs, fund raising, marketing, public relations, and internal operations of all college buildings, housing, and facilities. The Seneschal oversees the grounds and all intramural operations to do with farming, gardens, the nature preserve, and husbandry. Faculty, as here envisioned, have a particular specialty and also teach across the curriculum.
